According to latest reports, negotiations have broken down between Wayne Rooney and Manchester United, with the player’s current contract set to run out in the summer of 2012. Real Madrid and Manchester City are said to leading the chase for the 24 year old, who is currently struggling for a starting position at United. The club so far are dismissing any talk as “nonsense” but speculation is rife amongst the press that Rooney has had a falling out with United manager Sir Alex Ferguson following recent allegations about the striker’s private life and his subsequent loss in form.
