After 183 games, Isner wins longest game in history
And so it finally ended, one of the most amazing and gruelling tennis matches in history.
After 11 hours and five minutes of play, stretching across three days, American John Isner won his final set against France's Nicolas Mahut to clinch a five set victory 6-4, 3-6, 6-7, 7-6, 70-68 in the first round at Wimbledon.
You read right, the final set did indeed lasted 138 games, the match in total spanning 183 games - numbers which will surely not be seen again in a tennis match.
With the match locked at 59-59 overnight, No. 23 seed Isner finally fired his backhand winner just over an hour into day three.
Both players were awarded in a special ceremony at the end, though both players were understandably eager to get off Court 18 and into the locker room.
You couldn't say that they haven't earned the rest.
