Premiership round-up - late goals, red cards and broken legs

Chelsea took full advantage of Manchester United's lunchtime stumble by beating West Ham 3-1, extending their lead to four points at the top of the table.

The result means the Blues have won their opening four games, whilst Avram Grant's Hammers have lost all four.

An Essien double maintained Chelsea's perfect start

Arsenal also recorded a comfortable 4-1 victory over Bolton at the Emirates, but big-spenders Manchester City could only manage a 1-1 draw at home to Blackburn after Joe Hart's blunder.

Blackpool continued their impressive start to the season with a fine 2-0 win against Newcastle United at St. James' Park. Spurs were held 1-1 to West Brom, but of more concern will be another injury blow to goalscorer Luka Modric.

At the JJB, Asamoah Gyan came off the bench to score on his debut, but it was not enough for Sunderland as Wigan scored late on to secure a point in another 1-1 draw. The Black Cats had to play the majority of the game with ten man, as Lee Cattermole was sent off against his old club.

There was also red card for Wolves at Craven Cottage, as a Moussa Dembele double saw Fulham win 2-1. However, the result was overshadowed by news of Bobby Zamora's broken leg. The striker was injured in a challenge from Karl Henry, with Wolves quickly developing a reputation as the "bad boys" of the Premiership.
