Ref Who Ruled Out USA Goal Maybe Axed

The referee who disallowed Maurice Edu's goal in yesterday's USA/Slovenia game could be dropped from the rest of the tournament.

According to Yahoo! Sports, a FIFA source has revealed that the Mali born referee Koman Coulibaly is poised to have a expedited performance review.

Edu seemed to have put the American's ahead, after staging a comeback from 2-0 down but Couilbaly deemed the goal to be illegal but gave no reason why.

Landon Donovan said he asked the official but got no response,

"We asked the ref many times what it was or who it was on and he wouldn't or couldn't explain it. I don't know what to think of the call because I didn't see any foul, just a normal free kick and a goal."
