At least ze German's lost too...

Scant consolation, yes, but it's something, and I'll take anything right now.

The Germans suffered a taste of their own medicine when star striker Miroslav Klose was sent off as they crashed to a 1-0 defeat against Serbia.

The red card also ruins the forward's hopes of becoming the most prolific ever World Cup hitman, as he needs 6 goals at the tournament to reach the milestone.

Moments after Klose recieved his marching orders in the 37th minute, albeit for two very harsh yellows, Milan Jovanovic fired in from close range.

Germany still had plenty of chances to claim at least a point, not least when they were awarded a penalty on the hour for Nemanja Vidic's blatant and unecessary handball.

Lukasz Podolski stepped up, but his effort was comfortably saved by Stojkovic, and Serbia held on for a precious three points.

The result leaves Group D wide open, with the other two teams Australia and Ghana playing on 19 June.
